Connick in Tune With New Orleans

Between camera flashes and backstage mingling at the Tulane Commencement 2009 ceremony on Saturday (May 16), honorary degree recipient Harry Connick Jr. spoke with the New Wave about his love for New Orleans and being among the revered group of honorary degree recipients. In this video interview, he talks about his ties to the Crescent City.

Connick, an accomplished musician, actor and native New Orleanian, and three others received honorary degrees. Connick says he was particularly pleased that his father, former New Orleans district attorney Harry Connick, could be at the commencement ceremony.

HIV co-discoverer Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, healthcare advocate Jessie Gruman and architect William McDonough also were honored at the ceremony held in the Louisiana Superdome.

The story was produced by New Wave team members Paula Burch-Celentano, Alicia Duplessis Jasmin, Nick Marinello and Ryan Rivet.
