Joyful jam

Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, left, plays with The Soul Rebels during the Tunes for Toys concert on Tuesday (Dec. 2) in McAlister Auditorium on the Tulane University uptown campus. In lieu of a cover charge, the free concert collected toys that will be distributed in the Treme neighborhood.

Students from the Trombone Shorty Academy were featured at the end of the concert.

The Trombone Shorty Academy, a partnership between the Trombone Shorty Foundation and the New Orleans Center for the Gulf South at Tulane University, provides music education to gifted New Orleans high school students.
