An emerald hue casts upon Ricardo Mostany, an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology, as he peers through a microscope to evaluate neural circuits. His laboratory utilizes cutting-edge imaging techniques to study how the aging brain handles and stores information that it receives from the environment. The Mostany Lab also investigates age-related differential vulnerability of certain neuron subtypes during stroke to find ways to minimize the severity of the stroke, and improve functional outcome with the aim of understanding how the brain repairs itself after injury.
