TUPD learns skills to save lives in active shooter events

More than 80 Tulane University police officers received hands-on experience during “Stop the Bleed” training. The program, taught by trauma surgeons and staff from the Tulane Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Team Training, gave officers life-saving techniques to respond to potential active shooter or mass casualty events. The officers learned how to use tourniquets and apply pressure to wounds. Each officer received a tourniquet and trauma kit at the end of the course.
