President Donald Trump has made no secret of his choice for the next governor of Louisiana – Republican businessman Eddie Rispone.
 
But Brian Brox, an associate professor of political science at Tulane University, says that while Trump has a high approval rating in Louisiana, Rispone winning the governor’s seat is far from a given.
 

Impeachment expert Stephen Griffin, a constitutional law professor at Tulane University, says the articles of impeachment submitted by Democrats on Tuesday, Dec. 10 create opportunities and challenges for both parties moving forward.
 
“The articles of impeachment are arguably the first in American history not to be ultimately grounded in allegations that (President Trump) committed a federal crime or other violation of the law,” he said.
 

If Republican senators acquit President Donald Trump as expected on Wednesday, they still will have important choices to make about their justification for taking such action, a Tulane University impeachment expert says.

“If they stick to disputing the facts, they might look ridiculous,” said Stephen Griffin, a constitutional law professor at the Tulane School of Law. “What most of them are doing so far is not disputing the facts. They are saying the facts don’t rise to the level of impeachment.”
