Fashion blogger and Tulane University junior Madeleine Schlosser is no stranger to style. The Marshfield, Massachusetts, native is a contributing “style guru” for College Fashionista, a website that calls upon college student bloggers to capture campus style.
After witnessing a few “hits” and a few “misses” at the home game opener, Schlosser shares her advice on pumping up your game-day wardrobe.
“Anybody can put on a few name brand pieces and think that it"s fashion, but I think it"s all about putting your individual spin on things,” Schlosser says.
Although a good mix of “eye-catching shoes” and accessories can take an outfit from zero to 10, the following tips are sure to get even the least fashionable guys and girls on the right path.
#1 Wear green. While it"s nice to shop environmentally friendly, she means the color green.
Schlosser says: “Girls could wear a green or blue sundress and guys could wear shorts paired with a Tulane T-shirt, polo or button-up. To take it up a notch, complement your outfit with green and blue accessories.”
#2 Dress in layers. The weather won"t stay warm all season.
Schlosser says: “Wear something that will keep you cool and comfortable. Incorporate a sweater, jacket, scarf or hat.”
#3 Comfortable shoes are a must for a long day of tailgating and cheering.
Schlosser says: “I love cowboy boots or booties with sundresses for girls. Sandals are nice, too, but stay clear of flip flops.”
#4 Prepare for the sun. Your skin is an accessory.
Schlosser says: “I would recommend wearing sunglasses or a hat to every game. You want to be able to see the action and not end a wonderful day with a sunburned face.”
#5 Show your school spirit!
You can"t go wrong wearing Tulane gear, but mixing blue and white into a green-based ensemble makes for a wonderful, spirited look. Check out this Pinterest page for more ideas.
