Band supplies soundtrack to Carnival

Barry Spanier, director of bands at Tulane University, said the Tulane University Marching Band will appear in four parades beginning Sunday (Feb. 8). In addition to the parades, which includes the Krewe of Rex on Mardi Gras Day (Feb.17), the band filmed a guest appearance on the locally filmed CBS television show, “NCIS New Orleans.”
“We were invited by the CBS production company to be part of a parade scene along with floats and about 700 extras,” said Spanier. “We filmed for one day, January 21, and the scene was on three blocks of Magazine Street between Poydras and Canal.”
