Calling all sports fans to “Be in that number”
The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, in conjunction with Tulane University and the Allstate Sugar Bowl, is proud to host the 2012 NCAA Men's Final Four in New Orleans. Locals including university students have the opportunity to get into the game with their favorite sporting events by volunteering.

“Over the next two years, we'll be recruiting more than 8,000 volunteers as we prepare to host Super Bowl XLVII,” says GNOSF volunteer coordinator Stew Krane. Volunteers will perform a wide variety of tasks, from welcoming visitors, teams and coaches as they arrive to the Big Easy, to assisting with the complicated logistics of these major events.
Krane has been actively recruiting Tulane students. “Tulane students have always prided themselves in engaging with all facets of the community, especially after Katrina,” Krane says. “We believe that these same vibrant, energetic students will provide an excellent face for our community as the spotlight turns on New Orleans during these events. With so many different opportunities available, everyone can find a role to help New Orleans host its first stretch of major sporting events in almost 10 years.”
Volunteer and Tulane senior Sam Furman explains, “The GNOSF relies on volunteers to make this a memorable event for everyone involved. Volunteers are the 'face of the event' as they have the most personal contact with visitors.”

“In addition to providing the chance for proud local citizens interested in becoming better engaged with the New Orleans community, we believe our volunteer program will provide an excellent opportunity for college and graduate school students gain valuable working experience,” says Krane, who can be reached at 504-525-5678.
