Twenty-four hours before game day, the Tulane University uptown campus will be full of activities.
Whatever preparation doesn"t get finished on Thursday will get wrapped up before noon on Friday, according to John Lange, Tulane game day manager.
A “Yell for Yulman” pep rally, open to all Tulane fans, will feature a fireworks display, live music by Bonerama, food and beverages.
One thing that Tulanians may witness on Fridays is the setting up of the stage on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad in preparation for the “Fridays at the Quad” events that will be held throughout the season. Live music will be played and free food will be dished out beginning at 4 p.m.
Following the Sept. 5 Friday on the Quad event, a “Yell for Yulman” pep rally will be held at the LBC Quad. Open to all Tulane fans, the event will feature a fireworks display, live music by Bonerama, food, wine, beer and soft drinks until 7:30 p.m. As the Tulane football squad leaves campus in buses on their way to their downtown hotel for the night, they will stop at the event. Fans of all ages will be treated to commemorative T-shirts and tank tops, as well as other inaugural season giveaways.
Earlier on Friday, Sept. 5, Tulane will formally dedicate the newly minted Yulman Stadium from 3 until 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies will include the dedication of Yulman Stadium, Benson Field and other named areas, and a ribbon-cutting for the Jill H. and Avram A. Glazer Family Club.
To make sure parking spaces are available on game day, all vehicles must be removed from campus by 10 p.m. on Friday before every home game at Yulman Stadium.
Students with residential parking permits will be required to park on the top two floors of the Diboll Center. Any other vehicles parked anywhere on campus after 10 p.m. the night before a home game will be towed.
Normal parking operations will resume three hours after the game ends. This three-hour window will allow fans to leave campus safely and mitigate any traffic problems.
