Carnival: An Enduring Connection

In his book Authentic New Orleans, sociologist Kevin Gotham writes, "… although other cities around the world celebrate Mardi Gras, none have the intemperate and licentious reputation, long-standing cultural traditions, spectacular floats and parades, formal balls and tourism infrastructure to accommodate the thousands of tourists that visit New Orleans each year."

In this video, Gotham discusses the enduring connection between Mardi Gras and the city of New Orleans.
