Celebration of Latin Culture
Tulane organizations and community groups are joining together to present the sixth annual Celebracion Latina on Sunday (April 18) at Laurence Square in uptown New Orleans, featuring music, food and entertainment with a Latin flair.

The festival, which is open to the public, free of charge, is being held from noon until 6 p.m. at the corner of Magazine Street and Napoleon Avenue. It is planned as a family-oriented event offering a chance for New Orleanians to celebrate the cultures of Latin America and the Crescent City.
This year, the event will celebrate the centenaries of independence of Latin America, starting with Venezuela. The annual celebration is sponsored by the Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane, in partnership with the Tulane Center for Public Service, the Hispanic Apostolate, the New Orleans Public Library, Telemundo and 1540 KGLA Radio Tropical.
Five musical groups will perform Ballet Folklorico, Sixto Reyes, Rumba Buena, Ovi-G and the Froggies and Mariachi Agave.
The Pebbles Center and the New Orleans Public Library will host a children's area with art and crafts as well as a Brazilian drumming workshop with Casa Samba. The Hispanic Apostolate and the Center for Public Service will staff a community partner tent to promote service organizations.
