Challah for the new year

In observance of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year that begins today (Sept. 28) at sundown, Tulane Hillel bakes the festive braided bread known as challah. The bread is rolled into a circular shape, symbolizing the cycle of the year.

The Morris & Goldie Mintz Center for University Life at 912 Broadway, home of Hillel, serves daily kosher meals that can be purchased by students and other members of the Tulane community.
