Faces of Jazz Fest
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival ended its seven-day run on Sunday (May 8), leaving behind memories of one of the best fests ever. There is always plenty of joy at Jazz Fest, but this year's event was blessed with seven sunny days. The crowds were huge and the performers proved that there's no place like New Orleans for music of every genre.
On the Tulane campus, Joel Dinerstein serves as associate professor of English, but on special occasions like Jazz Fest he marches in full costume with the Prince of Wales Social Aid and Pleasure Club.
Pink and purple reigns supreme for marchers with the Lady Buck Jumpers as they make their way around the Fair Grounds Race Course.

Traditional New Orleans music also has its place at the festival, from groups such as the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Festival lovers will be circling next year's dates on their calendars: April 27â“May 6, 2012.
