Fight Against World Poverty

ONE, a grassroots campaign with a mission to fight poverty and preventable disease in the world's poorest places, will host a free membership workshop on Thursday (April 15) at 7:30 p.m. in room 203 of the Lavin-Bernick Center on the uptown campus.

Anyone interested in learning more about ways to fight global poverty is encouraged to attend. The workshop is organized by the Student Government Association of the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

ONE is a nonpartisan advocacy group that aims to protect families from preventable diseases like AIDS and malaria. The group also works to improve education and economic development.

Sara Paterni, regional field director of ONE, and Maisie Pigeon, ONE student coordinator, will make the presentation at Tulane.

According to the organization's website, "We hold world leaders accountable for the promises made to the poorest people, and we press these leaders to support better policies and more effective aid and trade reform. We also support greater democracy, accountability and transparency in developing countries so these resources can be effectively deployed."
