Focus on Coastal Restoration

Mathy Stanislaus, assistant administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will speak at the 10th Annual Tulane Engineering Forum on Friday (April 16) at the Morial Convention Center in downtown New Orleans. The forum opens with a morning plenary session focused on coastal restoration and flood protection.

The one-day conference will feature 20 presentations targeted at an audience of more than 500 professional engineers and architects.

Stanislaus will give the keynote speech at the luncheon. Ending the sessions will be a talk by Terrence Chambers, associate professor at the University of Louisiana–Lafayette, on "Engineering Ethics in an Era of Exponentially Advancing Technology."

Experts from around the country will share their knowledge with the audience in plenary talks, panel presentations and concurrent sessions. Forum sessions will cover infrastructure, fueling the energy future in a carbon-constrained world, trends in chemical and petrochemical processing, emerging technologies and materials in architectural practice, aerospace, infrastructure restoration in Louisiana, the search for deep hydrocarbons, nature vs. bio-inspired engineering in architectural design and innovation.

Registration for the forum is required. Professional engineers can earn eight professional development hours for attending, including one ethics professional development hour. Professional architects can earn up to five learning units for attending through the American Institute of Architects.
