Future of the Church and Society

The first of two lectures this semester on "The Future of the Church and Society" takes place at Tulane on Thursday (Feb. 18), sponsored by the Chair of Judeo-Christian Studies.

Thursday's lecture will feature the Rev. Anthony J. Pogorelc, speaking on "Spiritual Hungers of Young Adults: How Hungry Are They?" He will give the Kathleen and John F. Bricker Annual Memorial Lecture at 5 pm. in the Myra Clare Rogers Memorial Chapel, 1229 Broadway.

Pogorelc is a sociologist at the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies at the Catholic University of America.

The second lecture, also in the Rogers Chapel, is at 5 p.m. on March 18. It features the Rev. Paul J. Philibert, former chair of pastoral theology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and chair of the board for the Congar Institute for Ministry Development in San Antonio, Texas.

Philibert will give the George Hitchings Terriberry Memorial Lecture on "Balancing Authority and Autonomy: Issues for a New Generation of Believers."

The series is sponsored in collaboration with the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem.
