Good Samaritans

The Tulane National Primate Research Center in Covington, La., is now the proud owner of a Star Award from STARC, a nonprofit organization that assists developmentally disabled individuals. Karla Stelly, a Tulane applications specialist, received the award on behalf of the center at a recent STARC awards ceremony. Each Carnival season, employees at the research center hold a Mardi Gras parade for STARC on the center's grounds, decorating golf carts, dressing in costumes and tossing Mardi Gras throws to a group from STARC, which serves disabled citizens from a five-parish area.
