The Green Room: on measles and inoculations
The California-centered measles outbreak that started at Disneyland is finally winding down after 10 weeks and more than 150 cases. But since the reports hit the news earlier this year, conversations about whether or not parents should vaccinate their children have become more common. As a result of the rising numbers of cases seen already this year, legislators in 10 states are proposing some sort of legislation to make it harder for parents to circumvent the laws requiring vaccinations for children. In an effort to understand more about the disease and vaccine safety, New Wave spoke to two faculty members at the Tulane University School of Medicine.
