The Green Room: Music and architecture

Milton Scheuermann

Milton G. Scheuermann teaches a course at Tulane University called Music and Architecture. He is more than qualified: Scheuermann is an accomplished musician and historian who builds medieval instruments and is musical director of the early music ensemble Musica de Camera, which will enter its 50th season this fall.

Scheuerman has been teaching at the Tulane School of Architecture since 1959; this is his 56th year on faculty. He also is an alumnus of the Tulane architecture program.

For this episode of The Green Room, we sat down with Scheuermann and Thais St. Julian, co-director of Musica de Camera, to talk about the intriguing relationship between music and architecture. The musical backdrop: Musica de Camera performing “Farai un vers de dreyt nien” and “Parti de Mal.”
