Helluva good time at the Hullabaloo Auction
Auction-goers on Friday (Oct. 4) were met with an abundance of once-in-a-lifetime items and Green Wave spirit at the 12th annual Helluva Hullabaloo Auction in the Lavin-Bernick Center on the Tulane University uptown campus.

The festive atmosphere of the live auction and party was heightened by a view of carnival rides on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad and a backdrop of fireworks for Homecoming and Family Weekend.
“To make this the kind of event it is, to have the kinds of things we are auctioning, to have all of you here, takes one person who's the visionary,” said Tulane President Scott Cowen. “And you all know who that is Jill Glazer.” He thanked Jill Glazer, five-time auction chair and member of the Board of Tulane, for her leadership and passion.
An active bidder, President Cowen emerged victorious from a bidding frenzy for VIP house seats to Kinky Boots, a Broadway musical.
“Can you believe passes to a show about drag queens is getting so much hype at a sports event?” said celebrity auctioneer and Tulane alumnus, Bryan Batt, who showed off his Tulane pride in green suede shoes with blue laces. “Don't you love America in 2013?”
Another exciting item during the live bidding was the “Downton Abbey” set tour, which had an estimated value of $5,000 and a winning bid of $16,000.
The online auction is open through Oct. 16 with many items still up for grabs, including the chance to attend a Manchester United Premier League match and meet the team, and dinner and theater with actress Blythe Danner. Tulane supporters also can purchase raffle tickets at $100 each for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII.
