Help speak out for Tulane University
The new Wave Network website offers higher education and healthcare news feeds, tools to locate your elected officials in Louisiana, and highlights of current university issues.
Did you know that Tulane University provides healthcare services at 58 sites in 22 parishes of Louisiana? Or that the university provides 10,600 jobs with an economic benefit of $920 million? The value of community service performed by Tulane volunteers was estimated at $5.4 million in 2013.
To increase the visibility of Tulane University"s contributions across the state of Louisiana, the Tulane Office of Government and Community Relations, in partnership with the Office of Alumni Affairs, has created the Wave Network.
The network has been established to bring together alumni, students, parents and friends to speak out for Tulane University around the state.
“Members of the Wave Network will help us tell the Tulane story and advocate on behalf of the university and higher education,” said Sharon Courtney, vice president for government affairs. “Your membership will help ensure a strong partnership with the state of Louisiana, which is critical to the university"s long-term success. Anyone with an interest in Tulane can be part of the network and the good news is there are no meetings required!”
The Office of Government and Community Relations has launched a website that provides a host of information and tools to assist alumni in advocating on behalf of the university.
Future e-newsletters will highlight various tools and features of the new site and provide updates on Tulane news and politics around the state.
“Alumni around the state want to be helpful, so it was up to us to find a vehicle that allows them to contribute and to make it easy for them,” Courtney says. “We"ll encourage current students to participate as well.”
Wave Network participants will be invited to special events, such as the Tulane University Day at the Legislature in Baton Rouge on May 12. Tulane Day is an opportunity for students and alumni to meet personally with legislators and hear firsthand news about the most recent developments impacting the university.
