Hot Sports Tickets Highlight Auction

How about winning a 16-person VIP suite to an away game for the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints? Or, an all-expenses-paid road trip with the Green Wave football team? These are just two of the items up for bid now through June 16 in the online Grads and Dads Auction that will support scholarships for Tulane student-athletes.

After last fall's successful online auction during homecoming, Tulane athletics is offering sports and travel packages in the Grads and Dads Auction, under way now.

A tempting menu of items, also including Major League Baseball tickets and a weeklong vacation at the Mayan Palace Acapulco golf resort, are featured as the Tulane offerings in the auction at Charitybuzz.com. Click here for more information or to bid on Tulane items.

The event follows up on last October's online auction held during homecoming, says Brandon Macneill, executive associate athletics director at Tulane.

“It was tremendous,” Macneill said of last fall's auction. “By far, it was the most successful one we ever had.”

So when Charitybuzz contacted Tulane about the Grads and Dads auction, “We thought it would be another opportunity to get some items out there,” he said.

Among the other packages featured in the current auction are dinner with new Tulane head men's basketball coach Ed Conroy; a round of golf with Tulane head football coach Bob Toledo; several packages of World Cup Soccer memorabilia; and sideline tickets to the 2011 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Macneill said that “100 percent of all proceeds go to support our student-athletes. It's just a huge benefit for us.”

Tulane is planning an “even bigger and better” auction surrounding this fall's homecoming events, he said.
