The Insider: Move-in packages stacking high

Before students arrive for move-in weekend, Friday, Aug. 21 through Sunday, Aug. 23, many of their packages containing personal items such as clothing, shoes and linens are delivered to campus. That"s when Tulane University Mail Services swings into action, making sure that what they"ve shipped is easily retrievable.

Oliver J. Malbrough, assistant director of mail services, says the staff begins preparing for the big weekend several weeks in advance.

“We"ve been handling lots of questions from students and parents, assigning mailbox numbers and sending out shipping information packets to new and returning students,” says Malbrough. Mail services also coordinates with FedEx on the logistics for staging trucks for on-campus pickup.
