Awards, honors and new publications highlight news about Tulane faculty and staff members.
Shellond Chester, assistant dean for finance in the School of Liberal Arts, and Vincent Ilustre, executive director of the Tulane Center for Public Service, are listed in Diversity MBA Magazine's 2010 list of the “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive and Emerging Leaders.”
Michael Crosby, associate professor of architecture, has published a resource for climate-sensitive design titled Green House Manual; North America: A Bioclimatic Design Analysis. It was produced with the help of the Tulane School of Architecture and the Tulane City Center.
Dr. MarkAlain Déry, an instructor of clinical medicine, was featured by the CDC Foundation's In Focus publication for his work in advocating HIV prevention. He founded the New Orleans Society for Infectious Disease Awareness, an organization to raise local awareness about HIV.
Dan Etheridge, assistant director of Tulane City Center and an adjunct assistant professor of architecture, has been featured in the new National Design Triennial publication “Why Design Now?” produced by the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. He discusses the history, design and projection for Tulane City Center's Viet Village urban farm.
The Rev. Val McInnes, chair of Judeo-Christian Studies at Tulane, announces the publication of his mini memoirs entitled Resurrection Fern Tales of a Dominican Friar. The book is available directly through Southern Dominican Books.
Leon Miller, head of the Louisiana Research Collection, was inducted as a fellow of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) during the joint annual meeting of the Council of State Archivists, National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators and the SAA. It is the highest honor bestowed on individuals by for outstanding contributions to the archives profession.
The Tulane women's swimming and diving team completed its staff for the 2010-11 season with the hiring of former Indiana University diver Justin Montrie as the diving coach. Montrie was a member of the 2006 National Team in the 3-meter springboard.
Dr. Richard Streiffer has been elected secretary-treasurer for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He is a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
