Lights adorn the front of Gibson Hall on the uptown campus to commemorate Pride Month. Pride Month is celebrated in June as the Stonewall demonstrations took place on June 28, 1969, in Greenwich Village, New York City. The demonstrations and protests that took place are credited with igniting the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and liberation in the United States. The Gibson lights will be up through June 26. The Tulane LGBTQ+ Faculty and Staff Affinity group will host a Stonewall Pride Community Gathering on Friday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life. At the beginning of Pride Month, the university announced the improvement of university data systems to allow for students, faculty and staff to add their chosen name through Gibson Online, regardless of whether or not they have legally changed their name.
