A walking tour of English legal history sites. A visit to the highest court of the United Kingdom. A private tour of one of England’s historic Inns of Court.

If you’re an alumnus or friend of Tulane Law School and headed to London for the NFL game between the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 1, you will want to reserve the whole weekend for what promises to be a fascinating look into the legal world of the U.K.

In addition, the Tulane Alumni Association is hosting a reception Sept. 30 featuring a discussion of current issues in global sports with Mike Tannenbaum (L ’95), executive vice president of football operations for the Miami Dolphins, and Tulane professor Gabe Feldman, director of the Tulane Sports Law Program.

“This will be a fun weekend that showcases Tulane Law’s strengths in multiple dimensions – in international law, the courts and in the world of global sports,” said law school dean Dave Meyer. 

The weekend begins Sept. 29 with A Tour of Legal London by professor George Applebey (L ’70), visiting lecturer in residence at the University of Birmingham Law School. Lunch will take place at Middle Temple and feature the Honorable Ian S. Forrester (L ’69), a U.K.  judge on the General Court of the European Union’s Court of Justice. Following lunch, Applebey will lead a private tour of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.

The Sept. 30 reception featuring Tannenbaum and Feldman will begin at 2 p.m. at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm headquartered in London along the bank of the River Thames.

Tulane Law officials acknowledged that the weekend falls during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. But they made sure to build in time in the schedule both on the evening of Sept. 29 and the morning of Sept. 30 for those observing the holiday to attend services.
