A magnolia by any other name
A Japanese magnolia blooms near Josephine Louise Hall on the Tulane University uptown campus. Known by many names including Mulan magnolia, purple magnolia, lily magnolia and tulip magnolia, these trees flower in late winter. Their blooms are often considered one of the first early signs of spring.
The large, showy pink and white flowers don't last long and will soon decorate the ground around the trees.
