Media Advisory: Federal funders, Sen. Cassidy to discuss research investment in Louisiana

WHATLouisiana Research Summit, a conference bringing together the state’s – and nation’s – scientific leaders to discuss additional support to the state’s existing research expertise, ensuring that what happens in Louisiana laboratories improves the lives of everyday citizens. The conference is being hosted by University Medical Center New Orleans.

WHO: Dr. Francis S. Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health; Dr. France Córdova, director of the National Science Foundation; Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research; and Mary Woolley, president and CEO of Research!America. U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-LA, a physician, is the honorary host.

WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Experts will be available to the media from 8 to 9 a.m. during an exhibition showcase.)

WHERE: University Medical Center, 2000 Canal St. Main entrance is on Tulane Avenue, and media parking will be available in the surface lot near the corner of Tulane and S. Galvez St.

MORE: Researchers from Tulane, LSU, LSU Health Sciences Center, Xavier University and the University of Louisiana System are among the experts who will be participating in the conference.
