On Thursday (June 4) from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., the French Quarter location of the W New Orleans hotel will offer a twist on the nostalgic drive-in experience. Deemed “Dive-In” movie night, guests can enjoy watching My Cousin Vinny while lounging poolside. The Throwback Thursdayâ“themed event will include music from the "80s and "90s as well as complimentary popcorn. Guests are also encouraged to shop beachwear and fitness gear from local labels The Elizabeth Chronicles and Fit By You throughout the evening.
An outdoor film series presented by the New Orleans Film Society, Moonlight Movies introduces audiences across the city to a spectrum of films, from cult favorites to provocative documentaries. Visitors are welcome to spread out a blanket, share snacks from home or bought from on-site food vendors, and enjoy the free sundown screenings. On Friday (June 5) at 8:30 p.m., Jaws will be featured at the Riverwalk"s Spanish Plaza. On Saturday (June 6) at 8:30 p.m., audiences will be belting out “Summer Nights” during a sing-along version of Grease showing at Coliseum Square Park.
Audubon Zoo will serve as the verdant backdrop for family-friendly ZOOvie nights. The series begins with a sing-along presentation of Frozen at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and will run through Friday, July 24, with screenings of Maleficent, Annie and Big Hero 6. Film-goers are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets to picnic near the Capital One Stage before getting down at a dance party that starts at 7:15 p.m. Concessions, such as hot dogs, cupcakes and frozen bananas, will be available.
