The Who Dat Nation will reunite in living rooms, tailgate stations, restaurants and bars across the city to watch the New Orleans Saints take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday (Sept. 13) at 3:05 p.m. Extend your black and gold family, learn new halftime traditions and start the season off right by visiting one of our favorite Saints game day destinations.
The Bulldog Uptown (3236 Magazine St.)
The Bulldog"s uptown location is known for its dog-friendly patio, which boasts a mounted big-screen TV, trees strung with lights and plenty of tables for Who Dats to cheer beside their canine companions. The courtyard"s most memorable feature is its beer-tap fountain. Built into a red brick wall, the fountain signals the venue"s massive beer selection. If you work up an appetite in the first quarter, head inside to order a sharable signature dish, like Crawfish Banditos (crispy tortillas stuffed with crawfish and cheese, served with avocado sour cream).
Bayou Beer Garden (326 N. Jefferson Davis Pkwy.)
Hop on your bike and cruise to this Mid-City Saints fans" sanctuary. Stocked with 12 TVs throughout the venue, visitors can be assured they won"t miss a play. Every Sunday throughout the season, patrons can find smoked dishes being served on Bayou Beer Garden"s sprawling fan-cooled back deck. Guests also can select their favorites from the comfort foodâ“focused menu, which includes mammoth servings of Famous BBG Disco Fries (French fries smothered in melted cheddar and roast beef debris gravy).
Mid-City Yacht Club (440 S. St Patrick St.)
A neighborhood tavern rather than a posh mariners" club, the pub"s name stemmed from a joke during the waterlogged days after Hurricane Katrina when locals were forced to travel the area by boat. The building"s inside was completely refurbished with reclaimed wood from storm-damaged homes, and HD TVs surround the bar. Commandeer a table in the courtyard in front of the big screen, and sample the kitchen"s fresh, unconventional fare, like mussels steamed in Harpoon UFO beer, paired with andouille, onion broth and bread for dipping.
