Nonstop excitement under way at Helluva Hullabaloo Auction

Nothing like a great auction to get the adrenalin flowing, and the annual Helluva Hullabaloo Auction promises nonstop action with online bidding open through Oct. 16 and both silent and live auction items at the annual campus event on Friday (Oct. 4).

A visit for two to the set of the award-winning PBS television series “Downton Abbey” is one of numerous entertainment packages up for bid during the Helluva Hullabaloo Auction.

Online auction items include tickets and a backstage tour of the Broadway musical First Date, a one-month internship with Alison Brod Public Relations in NYC, meet and greets with executives such as Lisa Jackson, Tulane alumna and former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency director, and Jim Kramer of “Mad Money,” as well as a private wine tasting with alumna Elyse Luray, star of “History Detectives.”

Of the more than 150 items being offered online, the bidding for the “Downton Abbey” set tour, World Series tickets, Victoria Secret Fashion Show and the Maison Montfort vacation home in France will move progressively from online to live bidding, culminating at the 12th annual Helluva Hullabaloo Auction on Friday (Oct. 4) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lavin-Bernick Center on the Tulane uptown campus.

The highest online bidders for each of these packages will continue to compete with bidders live on campus via a representative from CharityBuzz. Other live auction items include a Saints vs. Falcons game day experience in Atlanta, four VIP house seats to Broadway's Kinky Boots, four box seats at the US Open, and a cookout with Green Wave and Saints coaches and Saints players at a secluded New Orleans river camp.

Unique to the online auction are more sporting events, vacation packages, art work and celebrity get-togethers, including dinner and theater with actress Blythe Danner in New York City, dinner with New York Yankees pitcher and alumnus Preston Claiborne in Houston, a fishing or golf outing with Houston Texans free safety Ed Reed and lunch with former NFL running back Eric Dickerson in Los Angeles.

The Hullabaloo Auction benefits Tulane student-athletes and student community outreach projects through Tulane Empowers. Tickets to the campus event are $100 each and can be purchased here.
