Photo: Alumnus receives a Bronze Star
Tulane University alumnus James E. Zumwalt, a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, is pinned with a Bronze Star by Rep. Frank Wolf on June 18 for “exceptionally meritorious service” in Iraq in 2010 with an explosive ordnance disposal team.
He represents the fourth generation of his family to receive the Bronze Star. The honor was noted in an article in the Washington Post. Zumwalt, who now works for a defense contractor, received a bachelor's degree from Tulane in 2005 and served two tours of duty in Iraq. His grandfather, who also received the Bronze Star, was Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr., the former chief of Naval Operations. (Photo from the office of Rep. Frank Wolf)
