Photo recap: Reliving Wave Weekend '24

Tulane students, families, alumni, staff, faculty and Green Wave fans gathered last week to celebrate Wave Weekend ‘24, featuring Homecoming, Reunions and Family Weekend. With nearly 90 events on the schedule to choose from, attendees had their pick of reunions, concerts, tailgating, open houses, academic lectures and, of course, the big game! The Tulane community came to Yulman Stadium in droves to cheer on the Green Wave football team during the Homecoming game against Temple University. Tulane toppled Temple with a dominant 52-6 victory.

Tidal Wave Thursday
Tidal Wave Thursday awoke campus with festivities at the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life. Tidal Wave organized an afternoon of crafts in line with the theme "Life on the High Wave." Students joined in decorating custom road signs, trucker hats, passports and more.

NPHC plots ribbon cutting
The Tulane community celebrated the new National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) plots with a ribbon cutting on Friday. The landmark recognizes the historically Black Greek letter organizations and will serve as a public space for students, alumni and community members to gather, reflect and celebrate the rich history and continued work of organizations within the NPHC.

President Michael A. Fitts and guests at Presidential Speaker Series
President Fitts (left) hosted his Presidential Speaker Series Friday, leading a compelling conversation about the impact of Tulane sports and college athletics with three notable Tulanians — Gabe Feldman (center left), director of the Tulane Sports Law Program and associate provost for NCAA compliance; Ashley Langford (center right), head coach of Tulane's women's basketball team and former Tulane athlete; and Peter Ricchiuti (right), senior professor of practice at the A. B. Freeman School of Business.
Adebimpe Adegbite
The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS) hosted the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in Freeman Auditorium, which gave graduate students the chance to present years of research in just three minutes. PhD anthropology student Adebimpe Adegbite received the grand prize, and OGPS will cover costs for him to compete in a regional 3MT competition against students from approximately 40 other universities across the south. Adegbite's research focuses on using proverbs, in the home, to teach Yoruba language to children who otherwise would not acquire the language.
