Students volunteer for a day at the start of each school year to perform community service work across the New Orleans area. At the 21st annual Outreach Tulane on Saturday (Sept. 17), nearly 700 Tulane volunteers rode buses to 34 service sites, helping young students with an exercise program, sorting donations of clothes, rehabbing homes, doing park beautification and developing gardens.

The Community Action Council of Tulane University Students (CACTUS), the Center for Public Service and the Community Service Scholars Program co-sponsored the event. Photos by Paula Burch-Celentano and Sally Asher.
