Photos: Getting to know NOLA
Groups of first-year Tulane students spent the week before classes learning firsthand about their new city through the NOLA Experience program, visiting neighborhoods, historic sites and even restaurants.
One group visited the tomb of voodoo queen Marie Laveau in a history tour of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, while another hopped on bicycles for a tour of the Ninth Ward's Holy Cross neighborhood, and a third group met with Paul Miller, executive chef of K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, to learn how to make blackened fish. After their initiation into Crescent City life, the campus newcomers are engrossed in their fall classes.
