Ellis Marsalis, legendary bandleader, educator and patriarch of one of New Orleans' most renowned musical families, treated students to a free concert on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in Dixon Hall on the Tulane uptown campus.

After the special concert with his group, Marsalis, who is regarded as the premier modern jazz pianist in the city, took questions from the audience. The Marsalis family was named to the 2011 list of National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters, the nation's highest jazz honor. The Lagniappe Series of the Newcomb-Tulane College Office of Cocurricular Programs presented the program.
