Every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., locals flock toward the gourmet hot dog emporium"s Freret Street location for a bite and some friendly competition. Kick back at one of the picnic tables under the sprawling covered outdoor patio. In between questions, sample the grilled duck sausage dog topped with tangy blackberry sauce or share an order of crawfish étouffée fries with teammates.
An offbeat oasis in Mid-City, Pal"s Lounge hosts trivia nights every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. This vintage pin-up themed pub is equipped with an air hockey table, pinball machine and classic jukebox. While brainstorming for the perfect original team name, patrons can start a winning streak in an old-school air hockey tournament and blast timeless tracks from Ray Charles and The Rolling Stones. Pal"s Lounge also hosts gourmet meatball pop-up StickBall in its kitchen on Thursdays to satiate hungry brainiacs.
While your team collaborates to remember the first few digits of pi for the dreaded math category question, treat yourself to one of Mellow Mushroom"s original pizza pies. The laid-back Oak Street location offers trivia every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. For a traditional slice, try the gourmet white pie, which tops an olive oil and garlic base with sun-dried tomatoes, provolone, mozzarella and feta. The Thai-Dye Pizza features a global twist of grilled curried chicken, mozzarella, fresh basil and a swirl of chili sauce.
