In a cool, darkened classroom in the Woldenberg Art Center, Ronnie Xie, second from right, and Astrid Garcia, far right, discuss their designs for an assignment in the Digital Arts I course taught by associate professor Kevin Jones. Students are tasked with reimagining the use of an abandoned offshore platform near the coast of Suffolk, England, and designing a visual identity for it. Initially used as a military fort during World War II, some of the concepts for the structure’s new purpose include a water park, a concert hall and a fishing dock.
