Reaching Out With Oil Spill Health Care
Tulane University Community Health Centers are taking part in the Our Home, Louisiana Coalition, an effort by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and other community organizations to provide free health screenings, wellness information and mental health resources to citizens affected by the Gulf oil spill.

The coalition has scheduled 12 Coastal Care Fair events that offer everything from free health screenings and job information to mental health counseling, refreshments and entertainment for kids.
The mobile unit called Tulane Community Health on the Road from the Tulane University School of Medicine is offering basic health screenings, blood pressure checks, glucose checks and urgent care exams. In addition, the mobile New Orleans Children's Health Project unit will offer behavioral health screenings and counseling.
The next Coastal Care Fair event will be today (June 28) at the Lafourche Parish Library in Thibodaux, La. There will also be one in New Orleans at the New Orleans Public Libraryâ“Latter Branch on Thursday (July 1).
More information and a calendar of all the Coastal Care Fairs are available on the coalition website. The site offers additional resources for families affected by the crisis and provides information for the news media and for organizations interested in joining the coalition.
The Our Home, Louisiana Coalition includes Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Tulane Community Health Centers, Magellan Behavioral Health, Second Harvest Food Bank, Louisiana Serve Commission, Louisiana Workforce Commission, Health and Wellness Institute, Corporation for National and Community Service, United Way, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation and Breazeale, Sachse and Wilson.
