Relay to Raise Funds for Cancer Society

At 6 p.m. on Friday (April 23), hundreds of participants in Relay for Life will start walking on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad in a round-the-clock event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

As of Wednesday (April 21), 53 teams and 322 volunteers had signed up to participate. One member of each team must be walking at all times in the 24-hour event, but planners will have food, music and other entertainment throughout the night.

Held throughout the country, Relay for Life is a chance to fight cancer, honor survivors and remember those who have been lost to cancer.

On the Tulane uptown campus, musical performances are scheduled by Soundwave, The Acadias, Rodo & Mo, 1608, Luke Starkiller and Jump Rope Crew, along with a live DJ.

Participation is open to anyone in the Tulane community. Prior to the event, teams are formed with eight to 15 members and each member is responsible for raising at least $100. For additional information, e-mail Michael Patrick Ross.
