The Belle of the Coast steamboat, constructed in 1880, is docked in New Orleans in this photograph taken prior to 1897. The photo, one of several images showcasing a variety of riverboats and general life along the Mississippi River and other waterways, is part of the Joseph M. Jones Steamboat Series in the Louisiana Research Collection housed at Jones Hall and part of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library.
