Shakespeare hit returns for school performances
Each January, the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane hosts its Performances for the Schools, a full-length remounting of a summer show, providing an unparalleled artistic and educational opportunity for school students in southeast Louisiana. Nearly 6,000 students from 51 schools have reserved seats to attend morning performances of Julius Caesar Jan. 11â“20 in Dixon Hall.

This program complements Shakespeare coursework taught in area schools by allowing both teachers and students the opportunity to experience Shakespeare in a live performance. Additionally, teachers receive play-specific study guides prepared to correspond to the Louisiana State Educational Curriculum Standards.
Julius Caesar features Ron Gural as Caesar, Silas Cooper as Cassius, John Neisler as Brutus, Danny Bowen as Marc Antony, Carmen Torres as Calphurnia and Emilie Whelan as Portia. The festival's version of the famous drama is set in 1930s America.
The Shakespeare Festival will present one public performance of Julius Caesar on Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Dixon Hall. Tickets for this performance are $20 for general admission, with a special $10 ticket price for Tulane faculty, staff, students and seniors.
