Simon Says: Roll Wave!

Bobby Boudreau

The late alumnus Bobby Boudreau was a cheerleader of all things related to Tulane University. Boudreau even wrote a “fan letter” to New Wave, which is still on my bulletin board. It reads, in part:
WELCOME BACK, NEW WAVE. YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED. AND WHAT A RETURN ISSUE…LOVE IT. ROLL NEW WAVE TABLOID. ROLL NEW WAVE. ROLL WAVE.

Except for the three Korean War years, Boudreau held season tickets to Green Wave football games from 1947 until his death in 2010.

When he received the Volunteer Alumnus award in 2009, for his acceptance speech Boudreau led the room in the Hullabaloo cheer.

To honor his memory, the university established the Bobby Boudreau Spirit Award, which is given annually to the person or organization that bests represents the “Roll Wave” spirit. The award will be presented during Homecoming and Family Weekend at the Wave '13 All-Alumni Party on Oct. 4.

This award provides an opportunity for celebration and a means for recognizing those whose positive attitude and spirit boost morale and inspire others through participation in university activities. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 19. Please consider filling out the online nomination form to nominate an individual or group that you think exemplifies the Roll Wave spirit.
