Student Videos Highlight Engaged Learning
A series of videos highlighting the student experience with the Tulane Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching has hit cyberspace.
Laura White is one student who hopes to use the new Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching to continue experiential learning opportunities. She studied social innovation in education in Denmark and the Netherlands.
The shorts are meant to generate buzz for the new center, which has opened for business in 310 Richardson Building on the uptown campus under executive director Michael Cunningham. Students who stop by will find resources to help them develop their ideas for research and social innovation projects.
Coming soon to CELT, students also will find experiential learning opportunities such as internships and externships. Faculty will find resources to help them incorporate engaged learning practices into their classrooms.
Among the students featured in the videos are Laura White, who is finalizing her research on best practices in social innovation education in Europe; Harriet Barratt, an undergraduate who is conducting serious research with neuroscience faculty; Harvey Hunt, who hopes to improve access to higher education for students of color through his research; and Matthew Bourda, who is working to curb tobacco usage in Louisiana youth.
These students exemplify how the resources and assistance of staff at CELT can enrich the undergraduate experience at Tulane, Cunningham said.
