Sugar Plum Season

A sure sign that the holiday season is upon us is the performing of Tchaikovsky's classic ballet, The Nutcracker. This year, Tulane will be represented in Ballet Hysell's production of the iconic piece by first-year dance major Claire Escher as the Sugar Plum Fairy and professor of practice Diogo DeLima as the Prince.

"I've been doing Nutcracker since I was seven," Escher says. "It is Christmas."

Escher and DeLima have been rehearsing every day since September for the performances, which will be this Saturday (Dec. 12) at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday (Dec. 13) at 2 p.m. at Roussel Hall on the Loyola University campus uptown.
