Tania Tetlow named chief of staff and vice president

Tania Tetlow, a longtime law professor and current associate provost for international affairs at Tulane University, has been named the university"s new chief of staff and vice president. She will assume the new position later this fall.
“Tania is widely respected not only at Tulane but throughout the New Orleans community,” Tulane President Mike Fitts said. “Her record of accomplishments in the academy and public service make her an ideal addition to Tulane"s leadership team.”
Tetlow, the Felder-Fayard Professor of Law, has been a member of the Tulane Law School faculty since 2005. In her current role as the associate provost for International Affairs, she works to promote the university"s global focus in faculty research, study abroad and international recruiting.
“I am pleased and honored to be able to continue my service to Tulane through this appointment,” Tetlow said. “I am looking forward to working with President Fitts in this important role.”
An accomplished scholar, a Harvard law graduate and winner of the 2009 President"s Graduate and Professional Teaching Award, Tetlow is probably best known for her work in the area of violence against women. For nine years, she directed the Tulane Domestic Violence Clinic, guiding law students as they represented local survivors of abuse in court. Her focus on violence against women has spurred interdisciplinary engagement across the university.
Tetlow, who grew up in New Orleans and received her undergraduate degree from Tulane, leads various initiatives in the New Orleans community, including raising millions of dollars to rebuild the New Orleans Public Library system after Hurricane Katrina. She also chairs a mayoral task force to improve the New Orleans Police Department"s response to sexual assault.
