Today Tulane celebrates president’s inauguration

The inauguration of Michael A. Fitts as the 15th president of Tulane University will take place at 2 p.m. today (March 17) in McAlister Auditorium on the uptown campus.

Fitts will be joined in the festivities by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Sen. David Vitter, the presidents of the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University, almost 100 delegates from universities around the country, Tulane students, faculty and staff members, alumni, Dr. Michael White’s Original Liberty Jazz Band, and the student a cappella group Green Envy.

A party with music, food, drinks and games will follow the inauguration, from 3:30 until 5 p.m. on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad. All are invited to attend.
