Tons of fun
Saturday (April 5) was a bad day to be a crawfish as more than 20,000 pounds of mudbugs met their delicious demise for Crawfest, the annual spring festival organized by students and held on the Tulane University uptown campus.
Bryce Acosta, who boils crawfish for Mr. Mudbug, said Crawfest is the company's busiest day of the year. His team started boiling crawfish around 2 a.m. to prepare for the high demand.
Neal Lerner, left, and Doreen Lerner from Los Angeles, Calif., enjoy the crawfish, but said learning to peel them "takes a little time."
Long lines moved quickly as students and visitors clamored for hot crawfish.
