Toolkits for community partners
Word of the day: reciprocity. Community partners play an important role at Tulane University, providing venues for Tulane students to get involved in service to the city they love. But with the Nonprofit Toolkit Series presented by the Tulane Center for Public Service, the university is now able to give even more back to the community partners they hold dear.

The Nonprofit Toolkit Series, supported by the Betty S. and James A. Noe Jr. Foundation, is a series of workshops offered free of charge to the more than 400 campus-community partners.
The ultimate goal is to “make Tulane more accessible and to provide professional development services to nonprofits in New Orleans, helping to build capacity and increase effectiveness,” said Teddy Nathan, senior program coordinator at the Center for Public Service who oversees campus-community partnerships.
The Center for Public Service provides human capital to the partners through student and faculty involvement in service-learning courses and public service internships. Through the workshops, other resources and tips are provided to the partners as well.
After surveying the community partners, the Center for Public Service created workshops based on the partners' needs and interests. The sessions draw on resources from within Tulane and the New Orleans community and include presentations by Tulane professionals as well as nonprofit leaders.
A workshop, “Board Development and Management: How to Build and Sustain an Engaged Board,” will be held on Thursday (March 22) from 8â“10 a.m. at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center, 1718 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
Another workshop in the series, “Accessing Resources at Tulane: Opening the Doors to the University,” will be offered on Thursday, April 26, from 4â“6 p.m.
