Tulane community gathers for homecoming
Alumni and families of current students are coming to New Orleans this week (Oct. 17â“23) as Tulane University kicks off Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Special events, including Friday's (Oct. 21) “Wave '11” the all-alumni reunion party take place leading up to the homecoming football game, which pits the Tulane Green Wave against the University of Memphis on Saturday (Oct. 22) at 2:30 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
A tailgating party, starting a 11 a.m. in Champions Square outside the Superdome, will feature music and food until game time.
Homecoming Weekend's other highlights include campus tours, art demonstrations, musical performances and guest speakers, such as Paul Rice, founder and CEO of Fair Trade USA, and alumnus Doug Hurley, NASA astronaut.
Several homecoming events are open to the public, including the pep rally and fireworks display on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad on Friday at 7 p.m., which will be followed by a free concert by Big Sam's Funky Nation.
The Helluva Hullabaloo Auction and Party, benefiting Tulane student-athletes, opens on Friday at 6 p.m. with auctioneer Lee Zurik, WVUE-TV anchor and reporter. An online auction is now in progress and continues through Oct. 27. Items such as a trip to Hawaii to watch the Green Wave football team, 2011 World Series tickets, and dinner with Mary Matalin and James Carville are among the many offerings.
